Thanks. I love the second one as well!
Gravity won the Best Live-Action Sound Mixing at the Cinema Audio Society Awards! Let's hope it repeats at the AA.

HitFix listed Sandy on their favourite upset list: www.hitfix.com/galleries/overlay/86th-academy-awards-upsets-wed-love-to-see/2Sandra Bullock for Best Actress Expected winner: Cate Blanchett, "Blue Jasmine" Our upset pick: Sandra Bullock, "Gravity" Why: No one is going to argue that Cate Blanchett isn't a force to be dealt with in Woody Allen's "Blue Jasmine," but Alfonso Cuaron's "Gravity" does not fly without Bullock's career work. You can certainly argue Bullock already won because her triumphant "Gravity" performance quieted any critics saying she wasn't worthy of any Oscar for "The Blind Side." And yet, why isn't she deserving of another statue for a better piece of work? It's almost as though most voters believe CG was responsible for a majority of her performance. That's ridiculous. We now that the work Bullock had to put her body through to pull off the weightlessness affect alone, was short of extraordinary. But the journey she and Cuaron take Dr. Ryan Stone on is just as remarkable. And when she staggers out of the water, falls to the sand, takes a beat and gives a brief smile? The simplest, but most euphoric moment to a ride for the ages. - Gregory Ellwood Read more at www.hitfix.com/galleries/86th-academy-awards-upsets-wed-love-to-see#Yy4oUFZH6Fx9PlC4.99

"Gravity" is nominated by Saturn Awards a lot... even George Clooney! One surprise is that music isn't nominated. Saturn Awards is supposed to be a genre awards and I think they are losing focus on it. Some very strange nominations. www.saturnawards.org/nominations.html"Gravity" is nominated: Best Science Fiction Film Best Actress Best Supporting Actor Best Director Best Writing Best Editing Best Production Design Best Special/Visual Effects

That was a great article, it speaks truth everywhere.
Like Alfonso said: "This is the thing I have with awards: If awards would make your movie more pretty, I would really get super excited about it. But your movie’s done. You get awards, you don’t get awards … They don’t make your movie more ugly or pretty"
And I think that the argument about "12 Years a Slave is a more important film" is bullshit. With that thought Lincoln should have won last year. And it's a lot more important that 12YaS because it's about abolish slavery and saving hundreds of life while 12YaS it's only about one slave. So, it really piss me off when someone say that 12YaS should win because of its theme. And the award is called "Best Picture", not "Most Important Picture". It's absolutely ok to think that 12YaS is the best picture of the year, because it's really a very good film, but it's also ok to think that Gravity or any other film are the best.

I think the whole conversation about "12 Years A Slave" is important for the Oscars is about the fact the the director and the lead character are black, rather than about its theme because it would be the first time for a black diretor's film wins BP (and BD). Actually, if Alfonso wins, it'll be the first Latino win, but they seem to think it's more urgent to reward a black filmmaker.
But I agree with you, if "12 Years" to win, it should be because it's a great film, not because of the race thing. I know it's a sensitive issue for American, but anyway...
We will hear lots of complaints if "Gravity" wins BP.
Btw, Gesine seems to be in LA as she was on CBS for her baking. So, maybe she'll go to the Oscars really.

I think it's about both thing, the theme and the thing about the black director. But like you say Alfonso will be the first Mexican so... Yeap, I agree there will be complaints if Gravity wins, but I think a lot of people also will think it's a deserving winner and one of the best winners in the last years. I want Gravity to win so bad! haha Oh, I hope Gesine go with her!

I agree about what's been said here about 12 years. For me though without disrespecting the subject issue I generally found the film pretty flat.
That was a good read on hitfix. Thanks for that.

"Gravity" won the top prize for the trailer "Detached" and several categories. I miss the excitement we had before the release of this film. No matter how many films Sandy will star in the future, I don't think we'll ever get the same kind of momentum for her film again. "Gravity" was so special in many ways... www.thewrap.com/gravity-warner-bros-take-top-honors-at-golden-trailer-awards/
