As we did on our old SBC, I made a separate thread for box office. Many predict that this film will be on #2 after "Monsters University" and will earn around $35 million. If so, it'll be Sandy's career best opening. Let's see... Attachments:

Early estimate says the opening weekend could be close to $40M! And now we know the budget is only $43M. variety.com/2013/film/news/hollywoods-latest-bomb-white-house-down-struggling-friday-1200503228/Less than a month after Will Smithfs gAfter Earthh crashed at the box office, Sony finds itself in another predicament with Roland Emmerichfs gWhite House Down. gThe $150 million action thriller, starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx, is the studiofs most expensive film of the summer but may debut as poorly as fourth place this weekend with a projected $27 million. Not only are the early estimates soft for a project Sony bought in a record spec deal for $3 million in 2012, itfs actually worse than this yearfs other White House thriller, gOlympus Has Fallen,h which opened to $30.8 million for Relativity Media on a much lighter budget ($70 million). Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthyfs gThe Heat,h meanwhile, is sizzling in second place with approximately $40 million this weekend. The R-rated comedy, produced for $43 million, marks another hit collaboration between McCarthy and gBridesmaidsh director Paul Feig. Disneyfs gMonsters University,h still No. 1, eyes an impressive $50 million weekend while gWorld War Zh rounds out the top 3 with $32 million, dropping only 52% week-to-week. gWhite House Downfsh puny performance, Sony is expected to have a strong late summer push with both the gGrown Upsh and gSmurfsh sequels, followed by sci-fi tentpole gElysium,h starring Matt Damon.

Is that pretty decent? I don't remember her other opening numbers since the old forum is gone, thinking it did better than all about steve , it won't touch the blind side This is actually Sandy's career best opening day, and if it'll earn more than $35M during the opening weekend, it'll be her career best too. But I don't think it'll go over the whole gross of The Blind Side. Maybe it'll go over The Proposal... The Blind Side opening day $11,038,423 - opening weekend $34,119,372 - total gross (US) $225,959,475 - worldwide $309,208,309 The Proposal opening day $12,727,079 - opening weekend $33,627,598 - total gross (US) $163,958,031 - worldwide $317,375,031 FYI: As the worldwide gross, her career best is still "Speed" ($350,448,145)

I think that people were dying to see a new comedy of sandy! I'm not too surprised at how well it's doing, with the success Melissa has had with her last comedy and all of Sandys new fans lol

I agree, people really wanted to see Sandy's comedy or just Sandy's movie. Not many people went to see "EL&IC," so, most people, it's like since 2009! And it's got A- with CinemaScore, which is good, and critics' reviews are relatively positive.

Great news. I do think a lot of people went for Melissa too. She seems to be the woman of the moment in comedy.

Weekend Gross: $39,115,043 Rank #2 Theatre Count: 3,181 Average: $12,296 Budget: $43,000,000There will be strong films opening this week, but I hope it won't drop too much. But anyway, I'm really glad that Sandy's efforts in promoting the film is paying off. hopefully it will earn good enough internationally, at least in UK, Germany and Australia, which I think three biggest markets for her outside US.
