The B.O. of week 7 has dropped a lot, probably because of another R-rated comedy ("We're the Millers") opened. Hopefully it'll go over $155M this weekend, but it has dropped the numbers of theatres a lot (691). www.boxofficemojo.com/weekly/chart/?yr=2013&wk=32&p=.htmWeek 7 (August 9 - August 15)US Gross: $2,975,687(-56.1%) Rank: 13 Theatres: 1,351 (-363) Average: $2,203 US Gross as of August 15: $154,591,632Outside US gross as of August 11: $44,496,000 Worldwide: $199,087,632Attachments:

The film officially grossed more than $200M worldwide! Yeah, the foreign gross is not that great. It would be better if foreign gross is closer to at least 40% of the worldwide gross, but right now, it's only 24.1%. "The Proposal" was 48.3%. "Bridesmaids" was 41.4%. www.boxofficemojo.com/weekly/chart/?yr=2013&wk=33&p=.htmWeek 8 (August 16 - August 22)US Gross: $1,256,246 (-57.8%) Rank: 18 Theatres: 554 (-797) Average: $2,268 US Gross as of August 22: $155,847,878Outside US gross as of August 18: $49,400,000 Worldwide: $205,247,878Attachments:

Well, I think that worldwide numbers are not updated, they are always at least one week behind the real box office results.
Also, "The heat" has yet to be released in some big markets like Latin America or certain European countries. Lets hope these upcoming releases will push a Little bit the international box office.
I was comparing "The heat" international B.O with some other buddy cop movies and I've seen that outside the US they tend to do well, and get half of their grosses. But, most of them have two very big international stars, and im not sure if Melissa McCarthy fits that definition (I could say she does not, judging the box office of her other movies, like "This is 40" or "Identity thief").
Personally, I guess the (expected) good buzz around "Gravity" will create, internationally, some more interest about "The heat".
Anyway, Im very happy for both of them because the movie is holding really well and doing good numbers almost everywhere. Not to mention how, is still better positioned and holding MUCH than movies that were released at the time or later and were supposed to be big hits ("Red 2", "The lone ranger", "RIPD", "White house down", etc). That's Girl Power - learn from these ladies, Spice Girls!

"The Heat" ended its successful run in US/Canada box office on Dec 12, 2013. www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=bullockmccarthy.htmOpening: June 28, 2013 Closing: Dec 12, 2013 168 days/24 weeks US domestic gross: $159,582,188 (69.4%)Foreign: $70,348,583 (still chance to earn more) (30.6%)Worldwide: $229,930,771This film is #1 comedy in US gross this year, but in worldwide, "We're the Millers" is far ahead ($269,194,119) as it was much stronger in foreign markets. Sandy is still a bit weak in the international market I guess. I'm not sure this will change after the sucess of "Gravity" because it's kinda "event" movie rather than an actor-driven movie. Anyway, congratulations to everyone involved in The Heat! Attachments:

For a comedic female duo this film did great. Thanks for the numbers... Although I am waiting for the day where comedy or a film in general does great and gets praised regardless of the sex of the actor. That said The Heat did great!
